Summary
Slower start this morning after another late editing night, just enough time to service the van before checking out of the campsite. Quick stop in Wooler to collect a prescription that had been waiting a few days, then we pointed south. We’re breaking the journey home over several days rather than rushing it, and the first stop was the North York Moors, specifically a coastal village called Staithes that neither of us had visited before. It doesn’t look like England. Old fishermen’s cottages packed tightly into a steep ravine running down to a small working harbour, narrow streets, a completely different atmosphere to anything else on the Yorkshire coast. We spent a few hours wandering and exploring the beach before heading back to the van. Found a cracking park-up out on the open moors for the night, panoramic views in every direction. Fajitas for dinner, cosy evening, no rush. The journey home is taking its time and that feels right. 📍 Staithes, North Yorkshire
