Summary

Day 24 of our Van Life Unfiltered 30 Day Series.

After a rough night of strong winds and hail, we woke up to another cold morning somewhere along the west coast of the North Coast 500, surrounded by mountains and lochs.

Today we continued heading south, stopping at a series of incredible locations along the way, all while still battling unpredictable Scottish weather.

Our first stop was Kylesku Bridge, one of the most scenic bridges on the NC500. The winds were too strong to get the drone up, so we had to settle for enjoying the views from the ground.

Just a few minutes down the road, we reached Allt Chranaidh Waterfall, where we got caught in another sudden hailstorm mid walk. After waiting it out, we were rewarded with sunshine and a much calmer moment at the waterfall.

Next up was Ardvreck Castle, sitting right on the edge of the loch, a beautiful but very exposed spot in the strong winds.

One of the highlights of the day came from a longer walk to the Bone Caves, where we covered just under 5km through some incredible scenery before, once again, getting hit by hail and snow on the way back.

After warming up with some food, we made a quick stop at a local leisure centre for hot showers and supplies, something that felt very needed after a day like this.

To finish the day, we visited the impressive Falls of Measach, where the scale of the gorge and waterfall really stood out.

We ended the day with another wild park-up surrounded by mountains and even spotted deer nearby, cooking dinner and reflecting honestly on our experience of the NC500 so far.
