Summary

Day 8 of our Van Life Unfiltered – 30 Day Series.

We woke up at Beddgelert Forest Campsite for our second day exploring the area, but the weather had other plans. Strong wind and rain greeted us in the morning, making it clear that this wouldn’t be the most pleasant day outside.

First things first, we headed to a nearby supermarket to stock up the van’s fridge before setting off to explore one of the places we had been looking forward to visiting Dorothea Quarry.

Despite the miserable weather, we spent about an hour walking around the quarry exploring the fascinating abandoned buildings scattered across the site. Old pump houses, ruined lodgings and former quarry structures gave the place a really eerie atmosphere, but it was also packed with history and incredibly interesting to explore.

After the walk we headed back to the van for some lunch before returning to the campsite for a quiet afternoon.

Since it was Aurimas’ birthday, we decided to skip cooking and instead headed to the campsite bakehouse for dinner. After a good meal we finished the evening celebrating with a birthday cake before calling it an early night.
