Simple SSD Switch Turns To NIGHTMARES (I Wanted The Faster Slot!)

Just wanted to move my SSD M.2 NVME drive from slot 2 to slot 1. Slot 2 is only 2x, slot 1 is the faster 4x. New rabbit holes of disabled sata ports and losing my hard drive. No anchor to screw the SSD in?! Can it just hang loose? How do you remove the anchors and move them around? There's nothing to screw in without them.
