Day 30 of our Van Life Unfiltered 30 Day Series. We didn’t expect it to end like this. After everything we’ve been through over the past month, the final day started with a serious decision to make. A major storm, Storm Dave, is forecast to hit Scotland with strong winds and snow over the next few days. But that wasn’t our only problem. Our diesel heater suddenly stopped working. What started as a strange burning smell the night before turned into a full failure the next morning, error codes, shutdown, and no way to keep the van warm in winter conditions. With a storm approaching and no heating, this quickly turned into a serious situation. We had to think fast. Hotels weren’t really an option due to high prices over the Easter bank holiday weekend, so instead we made the decision to leave the Isle of Skye and head inland in search of a safer place to stay. After stocking up on essentials, we finally found a campsite where we could settle in, ride out the weather, and figure out our next steps.
