Day 25 of our Van Life Unfiltered 30 Day Series. Last night didn’t go to plan. After finding what seemed like a perfect park up, everything changed around 3AM when extreme weather rolled in, heavy rain, snow and winds reaching around 65mph. Parked in a completely exposed spot, the van was getting battered from all sides, rocking violently and making it impossible to sleep. By 5AM, we had no choice but to leave. We jumped into the front and drove through the storm to find a more sheltered place to park up and try to get some rest. After a rough start and very little sleep, we slowly got the day going and continued heading south along the North Coast 500. With the weather still unpredictable, the focus of the day shifted, topping up fresh water, emptying waste, and resetting after the night before. We managed to find a service point and stopped in Gairloch, where we also found a great spot for lunch and a much needed coffee. From there, we continued the drive… and despite everything, this stretch of the NC500 completely blew us away. Even with the changing weather, the scenery became more and more impressive with every mile. We made a few stops along the way, including Victoria Falls (Wester Ross), but today was really about the drive and taking in the views.
