Day 23 of our Van Life Unfiltered 30 Day Series. We woke up to a peaceful and sunny morning at our farm stay, thinking it was going to be another great day on the North Coast 500. We were wrong. As soon as we hit the road heading towards the west coast of Scotland, the weather started to turn, and it didn’t stop all day. Sunshine, hail, strong winds, rain… sometimes all within 20 minutes. Our first stop was The Unknown by Kenny Hunter, but just as we arrived, another hailstorm rolled in. After waiting it out, we finally managed to explore the area during a short break in the weather. From there we continued towards Tongue Causeway, where we stopped for lunch, once again getting hit by another sudden storm right as we parked. As the day went on, the constant weather changes started to take their toll, especially with limited supplies and very few shops in this remote part of the route. Our next stop was Smoo Cave, and… same story again. Rain as soon as we arrived. After waiting it out, we finally got a short window to explore the cave before the weather turned again. By this point, it started to feel like the day just wasn’t going our way and moments like this really test van life more than anything else. We pushed on for another hour down the NC500 before finding a park up for the night, cooking some dinner and calling it a day after one of the most unpredictable days of the trip so far. ________________________________________________________________________ 🙌 SUPPORT US: Buy Me a Coffee – buymeacoffee.com/takeapeakatthis ___________________________________________________________________________ Locations in this video 📍 The Unknown by Kenny Hunter 📍 Tongue Causeway 📍 Smoo Cave 📍 North Coast 500 ___________________________________________________________________________ 🔔 Van Life Unfiltered – 30 Day Series We quit our jobs, gave up our flat, and moved into our campervan to see if full-time van life is really possible.
