I set out for a peaceful solo night in our campervan Flossie along the beautiful UK coastline… but things didn’t go to plan. What was meant to be a relaxing van life evening quickly turned into a frustrating mission, thanks to Thanet District Council’s harsh overnight parking restrictions. I spent over 2 hours driving around looking for a legal place to park, only to be met with signs banning sleeping in vehicles at every turn. If you’re planning to explore the UK in a campervan, this is the reality you might face, especially around Thanet.
