We built a pallet workshop from scrap in an empty barn for £218.50. This budget workshop build is Ep. 2 of our van build series as we get ready for our L4H3 Fiat Ducato conversion. After 3 years living and working full time from our low roof Fiat Ducato, we rented an empty barn for 8 months to build the new van properly. First job before we touch the van: how to build a workshop from pallets and reclaimed materials. We spent a day collecting free pallets, reclaimed timber, chipboard, ply offcuts and second hand finds, then built our full DIY workshop from mostly scrap. In this epic attempt at peak DIY you will see us build a mobile workbench island with DIY table saw (with a DIY fence!), our long bench for the mitre saw, plus an office studio made entirely of pallets and chipboard for remote work and editing. Total cost was £218.50 for 2 sheets of 18mm OSB, 12 heavy duty wheels, aluminium box section, toggle clamps and screws, plus £1 lengths from the reclaimed timber yard. The studio floor was the priciest and slowest part, but now we have a level base, straight walls and space to build. This setup is now ready for our self build campervan project. Next up: painting the van! Are you building on a budget? Let us know in the comments what you would build first, and if you can top our £218.50 total.
